We believe that A Better World For Pets is a better world for everyone, and that’s a world where more pets are more welcome in more places — including work.
For the last 10 years we’ve reinforced and implemented our pet-friendly culture across Mars sites worldwide. We visited with some of our Associates to get a firsthand look at their experiences and the benefits of working side-by-side each day with their best friends. One thing they all agree on: pets at work, work — for both people and for pets.
Associate Brady Grange commutes with his dogs on the London Tube and it never fails to spark conversation. “I get lots of people talking to me and the dogs,” he said. “More people talk to the dogs than me, actually.”
Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., Cara Anastasio’s colleagues play fetch with her new puppy, Ollie, as soon as they arrive at the office. “My coworkers love having Ollie around,” Cara said. “He’s our finance team mascot.”
For Diego López of Mexico City, having his dog Balak with him makes him feel more relaxed at work. “It makes me feel less stressed, knowing there’s someone close to my heart there to support me,”he said.
But it’s not just pet owners who benefit. “My husband and I work full time, so Salt usually stays home alone,” Shiho Yamauchio said from Tokyo. “But he’d rather be with me and other people — so it actually benefits him to come to work.”
It’s no surprise to know that having pets at work makes our Associates happier – so we’re dedicated to allowing pets at our worksites wherever possible. “A recent study showed that 90 percent of employees in pet-friendly workplaces feel highly connected to their company’s mission, fully engaged with their work and willing to recommend their employer to others,” said Erica Coletta, Global P&O Vice President for Mars Petcare. “For us, pet-friendly benefits are an essential part of attracting, retaining and motivating talent.”
We believe A Better World For Pets is one where more pets are more welcome in more places. That’s why we’re working to raise awareness about how well Pets Work At Work, all year.
